NUTMEG GETS A NEW HOME AND NEW NAME: NOW CALLEDJOSIE, SHE CAUGHT HER Pilots N Paws FREEDOM FLIGHT WITH CAPTAIN JEFF 🎉 Nutmeg was one of the most overlooked dogs at the shelter, and she became one of our longest residents.
She was surrendered with another dog after their family could no longer care for them. Her brother was adopted, but she stayed behind.
Week after week, month after month, she waited for someone to see her. Someone to choose her.
Then someone all the way in Florida saw her video and decided she was the one. She reached out and said she would do whatever it took to adopt her. ❤️
Susan Young the volunteer coordinator at Cobb, and I started trying to find transportation. Erica #rescuemeatl reached out to Pilots N Paws for help, and that’s when JEFF, a pilot who volunteers with them, stepped in. 🥹
He came to Cobb International Airport and gave Nutmeg the Freedom Ride she had always been waiting for.
But this Freedom Ride was unlike any other.
Nutmeg was flying home. ✈️❤️
She became the first dog ever from Cobb County Animal Services to have a Freedom Ride on an airplane. ✈️😭
A few hours later, she arrived in Florida and met her mom, Dianne, the person who helped save her life. She was welcomed home alongside her daughter, Becki Nadine 🥹
And the updates have been beautiful. They tell me Josie is the most perfect dog and they are in love with her!! 🥰
Because this was the beginning of a whole new life, they gave her a new name too, Josie. ❤️
I can’t talk enough about how saving a life takes a village. This is exactly what I mean.
Erica, Susan, Jeff, Pilots N Paws, Dianne and Becky. All the volunteers who walked her day after day while she waited for a home, the employees at Cobb, and every single one of YOU who has been here, #sharinglove alongside me.
Every person who follows ourpage. Every person who shares a shelter dog’s video. Every person who stops to care about a dog they may have never met. You are part of this.
